Riesling is one of the most important and widespread varieties of white wine in the world. The Riesling category primarily includes Riesling Rhine and Riesling Italian, which differ in intensity and aroma, but are united by their freshness, elegant acidity, and excellent aging potential. These characteristics make Rieslings some of the most versatile white wines.

Characteristics of Berries and Riesling Taste

Rieslings have greenish-yellow berries with a naturally higher acidity that forms the basis of their fresh character. The flavor profile is exceptionally diverse, ranging from citrus, apple, pear, and white flowers to mineral or subtly honeyed notes. Riesling Rhine tends to be juicier and more mineral, while Riesling Italian offers a softer, fruity-floral expression. Rieslings are produced in a wide range of styles: from fresh and dry wines to semi-sweet, sweet, and dessert Ice Wines. With aging, they acquire more complex notes of honey, dried fruit, and a typical scent of leather.

What to Pair with Riesling

Thanks to its freshness and versatility, Riesling pairs wonderfully with fish, seafood, poultry, or dishes with citrus or herbal elements. Semi-sweet versions complement lightly spicy dishes, while sweet Rieslings are suitable for desserts or strong cheeses. Serve well chilled to highlight its pure aromatic notes.
