Piquero

The Piquero brand originates from tropical Panama, where it is produced from high-quality sugar cane. It is distilled locally and then briefly aged in oak barrels, which gives it sweet notes and a subtle spicy background.

The name and iconic motif of the Piquero brand come from a Panamanian legend about a blue-footed bird called ‘Piquero’ by the locals. According to folklore, a bird's nest was found along the coast containing not eggs, but a forgotten bottle of very old rum. The citizen who discovered it returned to the village and, after tasting it, everyone had to admit that they had discovered the best rum they had ever tasted. Since then, the blue-footed booby has been considered the symbol and patron of this exceptional rum.

Piquero is distilled in Panama, a country with a tropical climate ideal for accelerated rum ageing, and then bottled in Europe, mainly in Italy, by Sandino Savio (Savio s.r.l.), combining local heritage with European precision. The cotton paper bottle design with a bird motif was created to give it a distinctive identity – the Piquero bird is the patron of the ‘good rum tradition’.
