Peychaud’s is a legendary brand of bitters that has its roots in New Orleans and is among the iconic ingredients of global mixology. It was created in the 1830s by Antoine Amédée Peychaud, a pharmacist of Haitian descent, who began making his own tonic from herbs and spices upon arriving in New Orleans.

The most famous product is Peychaud’s Bitters, an aromatic bitter with a characteristic ruby-red hue and a subtly sweet, spicy flavor with notes of anise and cloves. This bitter has become an integral part of cocktail history – it is a key ingredient in the classic Sazerac, which is considered the first official cocktail in the USA.

Interestingly, Peychaud’s Bitters is still made according to the original recipe and remains closely tied to the culture of New Orleans. Its versatility is appreciated by bartenders around the world – in addition to Sazerac, it works excellently in other classic and modern cocktails.
