Ouzo 12

Ouzo 12 is the most famous brand of Greek anise liqueur, named after the legendary barrel number 12. It was from this barrel that ouzo was served in the Kaloyiannis distillery in Piraeus in the 19th century because of its exceptionally mild and popular taste. This story became the basis of the brand, which is today a symbol of the Greek lifestyle.

Ouzo 12 is produced by distilling fine spirit with anise and other herbs and spices, including fennel, coriander and cardamom. Thanks to the carefully balanced recipe, it has a harmonious taste with a dominant anise character and slightly spicy notes.

It is most often served diluted with water or ice, acquiring the milky haze typical of anise liqueurs. It is an essential part of Greek taverns, served with appetizers (meze) and associated with the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the Mediterranean.
