After Brandy XO from the former Malokarpatské wine company, which was established in the 80s of the last century, Matyšák Brandy XO is the first product of this designation in Slovakia. The existence of this brandy is all the more valuable because it originated as an experiment.
5 years - the time required for maturation seemed infinitely long at that time. However, in the following years, P. Matyšák filled several barrels from the new year. The first brandy matured in 2002, so he wanted to sell it. But before the whole preparation was successful, starting with the legislation and ending with the adjustment, the year 2003 was written and the year 1998 was already finished, so in the end it went to sale. "For this reason, I decided to keep the first brandy in barrels and follow its further development in the coming years. The last 6 of 17 years have matured in French limousine-type barrels, which are also used for the production of Rémy Martin cognac, ”says Peter Matyšák.
And this is the birth of brandy, which can rightly be proud of the designation XO (according to the legislation, Brandy XO, ie Extra Old, must mature in an oak barrel for at least 8 years).
