Matusalem is a traditional rum brand that comes from tropical Cuba. It was founded in 1872 and is one of the most popular and interesting brands in the world. At the time of its creation, it was a sought-after icon in the world of rum. Matusalem creates excellent and high-quality rums with a long tradition with the help of local residents only.
Matusalem Distillery is located in the southeast of Cuba in Santiago de Cuba. It is the second largest city in Cuba, which began to prosper rapidly at the end of the 19th century. That's why entrepreneurs and large companies began to move there. For this reason, the visionaries Benjamin and Eduardo Camp, together with their partner Evarist Álvarez, decided to create a company called Matusalem. The name Matusalem was inspired by the biblical character Methuselah, who lived for 969 years.
In 1959, Fidel Castro (a communist dictator) came to power and forced the Álvarez family to flee Cuba to the Dominican Republic. Claudio Alvarez from the 5th generation resumed production of the Matusalem brand there.
Cuban tradition in a bottle
Matusalem rums are exceptional in that they are produced using the special Solera method and matured in 200-liter ex-bourbon white oak barrels. The barrels are fired before filling to develop tones such as vanilla, dried fruit and caramel. As for bottling, this is done under strict control and according to 140 years of rules established by the Álvarez family.
In 2000, the Matusalem brand won a large number of medals and awards for its magnificent rums, making them recognized around the world. However, Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 rum won the most awards. It was not just ordinary awards, but world-renowned international competitions and exhibitions, thanks to which the American Institute named it the best rum in the world. Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 was named Cognac des Rums.
The brand went through a long and difficult period, from which it fortunately recovered and became one of the most popular rum brands in the world. That is why we are proud that the Matusalem brand has chosen us as its main and only distributor of their rums in the Slovak Republic.

Matusalem Gran Reserva 15
Dominican Blended rum with Cuban roots referred to as "Cognac rum". The recipe hasn't changed in 140 years! It matures in ex-bourbon barrels and is made from a mixture of rums that have matured for an average of 15 years with a special Solera system. This is a really delicious rum full of surprising taste and refreshing aroma. Get ready for your taste buds to dance after just one sip.

Matusalem Clásico 10
Dominican dark rum with a particularly strong and exotic taste. It is produced by a special Solera process and matures in ex-sherry, ex-brandy and ex-cognac oak barrels. This is a really unexpected taste. The best thing to do is to taste it yourself and be surprised.

Matusalem Solera 7
We have a very interesting and tasty rum here, which will surprise you not only with its aroma, but also with its taste. It matures for 7 years in oak barrels using the Solera system. It has a very distinctive and charming finish full of tones of pepper, orange and molasses.

Matusalem Gran Reserva 23
The unique and mainly premium Dominican Blended dark rum is made from a mixture of rums that have matured for an average of 23 years using the special Solera method. It is a fine rum produced by Matusalem, matured in French oak barrels, which has given it an irresistible sweet taste of fruit, honey, nuts and wood.
