Graham’s The Tawny Mature Reserve
This port wine Graham’s The Tawny Mature Reserve is produced by the renowned house W. & J. Graham’s, established in 1820 in the Douro Valley of Portugal.
“The Tawny” is the result of a careful selection of wines that have aged for several years in oak barrels at Graham’s in Vila Nova de Gaia, at the mouth of the Douro River. The reserve character means that the wine is made from blended vintages with a higher average age, giving it more elegance and a more complex expression than the classic Fine Tawny.
The aroma is dominated by notes of dried fruits, figs, plums, raisins, complemented by subtle nutty and caramel nuances, which come from aging in oak barrels. On the palate, the wine is balanced, smooth, and velvety, with flavors of toasted almonds, caramel, and red fruits, while maintaining a gentle sweetness typical of the Tawny style. The finish is long, warm, and complex, with drier nutty accents that beautifully complement the fruitiness.
It is best enjoyed slightly chilled (12 – 14 °C), which enhances its elegance and freshness. It is ideal as a digestif, pairing wonderfully with desserts featuring dried fruits, nuts, caramel cream, or soft cheese. Due to its complexity, it is also excellent to drink on its own during a long evening gathering.
