Graham's 40 Year Old Tawny Port
Graham’s 40 Year Old Tawny Port is truly a unique port wine. It is created from traditional recipes passed down through generations. Master blender Charles Symington uses wines laid down by his ancestors, which have aged in oak barrels. Aging takes place in the Douro Valley, where gradual oxidation and evaporation ("angels’ share") allow incredibly refined aromas and structure to develop. The aging strategy and detailed control over the blend create a connection between the aesthetics of age and the preservation of fruit power.
The wine's color is golden amber with a slight greenish hue at the edge – a symbol of maturity and quality. The aroma is exceptionally complex. Intense dried fruits such as raisins, figs, intoxicating caramel sweetness, chocolate, and nutty notes with hints of toffee and vanilla. The taste is layered and rich. Fruits, roasted nuts, honeyed caramel, and dark chocolate lead to a long-lasting, harmonious finish.
It is recommended to serve slightly chilled (12 - 16 °C) in suitable port or white wine glasses. Excellent as a dessert on its own or in combination with dark chocolate, nut desserts, or blue cheeses. Once opened, it remains stable and consistent for up to 4 - 6 weeks.
Graham’s 40 Tawny Port is a true treasure – it radiates the depth of time, maturity, and mastery. It is an authentic example of how port can age for decades while maintaining elegance, complexity, and enjoyment in every sip.
