Furmint is a noble white wine variety rooted in northern Hungary and southern Slovakia, especially in the Tokaj region. It is one of the most important grapes of the area and the foundation of the famous Tokaj wines. In recent years, it has also gained popularity in modern dry styles. What does Furmint taste like?

Furmint grapes are small to medium-sized with a yellow-green skin that develops a soft golden hue when fully ripe. The variety ripens late and naturally contains higher acidity, contributing to the wine’s refreshing character. Expect flavours of citrus, green apple and pear, complemented by mineral and chalky undertones. Dry styles are firm and clean, while sweet Tokaj wines offer honey, dried fruit and a gentle caramel note.
