Flag Series Trinidad 1999 26 years old is an exceptional rum made from molasses, originating from the now-closed Trinidad distillery that ceased operations in 2002. The bottle is part of the Flag Series by La Maison du Whisky, which showcases rare single cask rums from significant rum-producing regions around the world.
Despite the 1999 designation, it is actually a blend of two vintages. The rum consists of 40% distillate from 1998 and 60% distillate from 1999. Both components were combined in a single bourbon cask labeled CR98/99BB1, where they aged together. The stated age of 26 years corresponds to the younger component from 1999.
After long aging, the rum was bottled at cask strength of 57.9% alcohol, without adjustment to a lower standard proof. The label indicates bottling in 2026. The result is a concentrated and bold Trinidadian rum with a characteristic mineral, medicinal, and petrol profile complemented by spicy and fruity to exotic notes.
This is a very small bottling. Several specialized sources consistently report a total production of only 223 bottles.
