It is known as a “rocky hill” whisky – named after the village of Craigellachie, which in Gaelic means “rocky hill” and sits on a rock above the confluence of the Spey and Fiddich rivers.

The brand has a long history – it was founded in 1891 by a group of merchants and blenders, including Alexander Edward and Peter Mackie (White Horse blend). It has changed hands several times (DCL, Diageo) and in 1998 became part of the John Dewar & Sons under Bacardi.
