The brand Casamigos was founded in 2013 as a result of the friendship between actor George Clooney, entrepreneur Rande Gerber, and developer Mike Meldman. It was originally created for their personal consumption, with the aim of producing tequila that was so smooth it didn't require salt or lime to soften the taste. The name "Casamigos" comes from the Spanish words "casa" (house) and "amigos" (friends), reflecting their shared vision of creating a "house of friends." In 2017, the brand was acquired by Diageo for $700 million, with the possibility of an additional $300 million depending on the brand's performance.

Casamigos focuses on producing ultra-premium tequilas and mezcals in small batches, emphasizing quality and traditional production methods. It uses 100% Blue Weber agave, which is grown in the rich clay soil of the Jalisco highlands in Mexico. The agave is slowly roasted for 72 hours in traditional brick ovens and fermented for 80 hours using a proprietary yeast culture, contributing to a unique flavor profile. Casamigos tequilas are known for their smoothness and balanced flavor, appealing to a wide range of consumers.
