The brand Caisteal belongs to the Scottish distillery Mossburn. Mossburn is a young company with a growing portfolio of brands. They produce whiskies that appeal to those who love authentic Scottish whisky. The company Mossburn named the brand Caisteal after Caisteal Chamuis, also known as Knock Castle or Castle Camus. It was a strategic fortress that helped the Macleod clan maintain the Sleat peninsula on the island of Skye.

The Caisteal brand produces traditional blended Malt whiskies that pay tribute to the old lifestyle and traditions of Scots in the 13th century. The whisky evokes times of fires, peat, smoke, sailors as well as the cheerful atmosphere that prevailed in the taverns. It is matured to perfection and bottled in the old way, without coloring and filtration.
