At the end of the 19th century, Australian sugar cane growers and sugar producers could not advise where to put molasses - a necessary remnant of the sugar process. Transport across the vast continent was expensive, with few cattle to feed in the area. Thus, in 1888, several of the most enterprising growers founded the Bundaberg distillery. The brand withstood even the most difficult times of the war and became one of the symbols of Australia. The company is based not only on the tradition of tastes and aromas of its rums, but also on the design - it creates a label on the bottles, created in 1920. Experts often use dark "Jackets" rums as a fixed comparison point when evaluating rums. The company also produces its own bicycle for the production of Cuba Libre.

The unusual shape of the "Bottle Jackets" was created in a "virtue out of necessity" way. The first rum was filled by distillery employees in 1888 in bottles from chicory Coffee Bushells, which they bought one cent per bottle. The shape has remained the same to this day, only the volume has increased to the current 700 ml. One of the highlights of the distillery's history is, for example, the employment policy introduced here by Hans Truval Christsen, a Danish immigrant from Copenhagen, and his son Frederick Christsen - the distillery employed the best Salvation Army believers. Because their faith forbade drinking alcohol, they were less likely to drink secretly at work. J. The Christsen family supported the families of employees and local farmers even in the most difficult times, which was never forgotten. The Christsen family received recognition for their good deeds - they named Christsen Park at Bargara Beach after them.

Most people who encounter the label of this excellent rum for the first time are puzzled by the answer to the question of where the polar bear, which is not even mentioned in Australia, came from on the label. The explanation is unexpectedly simple. In 1961, the company introduced the polar bear as its mascot, explaining that Bundaberg rum would warm a human even in the worst winter, at least as much as a polar bear's coat.

In 2000, the British company Diageo took over the Rum Bundaberg distillery.
