The history of Buffalo Trace Distillery dates back to the 18th century when pioneers like Daniel Boone and the Lee family established a settlement by the Kentucky River. The first distillation at this site dates back to 1775 and in 1870, Colonel E. H. Taylor, Jr. named the distillery O.F.C. (Old Fashioned Copper), laying the foundation for modern bourbon production. In 1878, he was joined by George T. Stagg, and the distillery became one of the most important producers of American whiskey in Kentucky.

Despite fires, floods, and even a period of prohibition, the distillery survived thanks to its license to produce spirits for "medicinal purposes." After the war, it was led by Albert B. Blanton, whose name is carried by the iconic brand Blanton’s – the first single barrel bourbon in the world, introduced in 1984. In 1999, it was officially renamed Buffalo Trace Distillery, with the new flagship bourbon Buffalo Trace becoming an instant symbol of quality.

Today, Buffalo Trace Distillery is part of the Sazerac Company family and proudly holds the title of National Historic Landmark of the USA. In addition to the award-winning Buffalo Trace Bourbon, it produces legendary series such as Eagle Rare, Blanton’s, E.H. Taylor, W.L. Weller, George T. Stagg, and Pappy Van Winkle. The distillery is known for its experimental projects, its own corn fields, and the unique Warehouse X, where new aging methods for bourbon are tested.

Buffalo Trace is today the most awarded distillery in the world, having received dozens of "Distillery of the Year" titles. It is a place where over 200 years of history meets the courage to innovate and bring new legends to the world of bourbon.
