Black Velvet is a Canadian whiskey brand owned by Constellation Brands. It has a delicate taste and is known for its black label. Its original name, Black Label, was changed to Black Velvet in the 1940s at the instigation of Master Distiller Jack Napier, who wanted to highlight its velvety taste and tenderness.
