Black Velvet
Black Velvet is a Canadian whisky brand owned by Constellation Brands. It has a smooth taste and is known for its black label. Its original name, Black Label, was changed to Black Velvet in the 1940s at the suggestion of Master Distiller Jack Napier, who wanted to highlight its velvety taste and smoothness. Black Velvet is a very approachable blend of fine whiskies. It is as smooth as its name suggests and glides down the throat almost dangerously easily.
Taste and Aroma Profile: The initial aroma is a touch herbal and quite grainy. When allowed to breathe, simple scents of marshmallow candy and cedar wood emerge. The taste is initially creamy and then develops slightly hard edges in the acidity area. In the middle, you will find muted flavors of roasted hazelnuts and grain. It finishes flat, very bland, and sour, but is still drinkable.
