BenRiach

The history of Benriach began in 1898 when the distillery in the Speyside region was founded by the experienced visionary John Duff. After a short period of activity, production was halted by the economic downturn. The floor maltings, however, remained in operation and supplied malt to the nearby Longmorn distillery. Thanks to this, Benriach survived and could be revived years later.

In 1965 production was restarted and the distillery returned to traditional craft methods. In the 1970s it once again began using barley dried with peat, reviving the original smoky character of Speyside whisky. Today Benriach produces three styles of single malt whisky: classic, peated and triple distilled, setting it apart from most producers in the region.

In 1994 the brand launched its first 10-year-old Benriach Single Malt, marking the beginning of a new era. After Billy Walker took over the distillery in 2004, Benriach returned to the world stage. Since 2016 Benriach has been part of the Brown-Forman group, also known for brands such as Jack Daniel’s. The whisky is crafted under the expertise of Dr. Rachel Barrie, a renowned Master Blender.

Benriach is known for its diverse maturation in different cask types. It uses bourbon, sherry, rum and port casks, which give its whisky a complex flavour with notes of fruit, honey, vanilla and gentle smoke.

Today Benriach is one of the most respected brands of Scotch single malt whisky, combining craftsmanship, rich history and the taste of Speyside.
