Barbancourt is a world-renowned rum brand produced by Société du Rhum Barbancourt, T. Garder & Cie in Haiti. The family business began processing sugar cane into rum in 1862. It was founded by Dupré Barbancourt, Frnacúz from the Cognac region. He paid great attention to quality and soon produced one of the best rums in Haiti. Customers were willing to pay more for it than for other brands. Dupré Barbancourt died without an heir, so the company passed to his wife Nathalie Garder, who continued to increase it together with her nephew Paul Garder. After his death in 1946, his son Jean Garder took over the family baton. His son Thierry Garder has continued the family tradition since 1990.

A major blow to the company was the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010. Two employees were killed, 86 of whom lost their roofs. The earthquake not only seriously damaged the distillery, but the company also lost a large number of barrels of maturing rum. Production stopped for several months. Živel made sure that there is only a very limited amount of the best rum of this brand on the market, which is also reflected in its price.

Barbancourt rums are highly valued, they have already won many awards in tastings and competitions. They have great reviews on sites designed for rum connoisseurs. One of the most sought-after rums in the world is their 15-year-old Estate Réserve rum. Each bottle has a unique serial number. The brand's reputation is also supported by the excellent 5-star Réserve Speciale at the age of 8, 3-star rum at the age of four and pure white rum, all made from pure sugar cane juice.
