Woodford Reserve

The history of the Woodford Reserve brand dates back to 1812, when Elijah Pepper built a distillery on the site where one of the oldest and most respected distilleries in Kentucky still stands today. He was succeeded by his son Oscar Pepper, and later the renowned distiller Dr. James C. Crow joined the distillery, introducing innovations such as the “sour mash” process and becoming one of the key figures in the development of modern bourbon. Surrounded by horse farms, the distillery is now a U.S. National Historic Landmark and represents one of the most important places in the history of American whiskey.

Woodford Reserve carries not only craftsmanship, but also the legacy of the people who stood at the origins of bourbon as we know it today. The brand’s story reflects the entire cultural and historical wealth of Kentucky. It is also closely tied to the state’s horse-racing tradition, as Kentucky’s two most famous symbols stand side by side: bourbon whiskey and thoroughbred horses.

Under the leadership of current Master Distillers Chris Morris and Elizabeth McCall, Woodford Reserve has become synonymous with premium bourbon. At the same time, it is committed to sustainability – recycling nearly all waste, protecting the land and water resources at Star Hill Farm, and continuing the legacy begun by Elijah Pepper more than 200 years ago.
