The Octave

The Octave represents the pinnacle of the art of whiskey aging, which has been carried out with great success by the Duncan Taylor team for over 40 years. By experimenting with smaller barrels, the so-called octaves, it was possible to achieve a significantly more intensive interaction of wood with whiskey. This faster and more efficient method allows the wood, air and alcohol to blend better, speeding up the maturation process and improving the whisky's flavor profile.

After the second phase of aging in octave barrels, the whiskey is perfected, acquiring a more sophisticated taste, a more distinctive appearance and a balanced character. The result is The Octave Collection, which offers a wide range of whiskeys for different tastes - be it single malt, single grain or blended malt whisky. The most famous distilleries in this collection include Aultmore, Bhunnahabhain, Brackla, Caol Ila, Glenallachie, Glen Moray, Highland Park, Miltonduff and Tobermory.

In August 2019, The Octave Premium Range was launched, highlighting years of expertise in whiskey maturation. The 'Octivation' process has added a new dimension to the flavor profiles of these exceptional whiskeys from some of Scotland's most iconic distilleries, further highlighting the unique characteristics of each rare dram.
