The recipe was developed more than 260 years ago, and although the ingredients are not a secret, only two people in the world – the master distiller and his apprentice – know all the details of the renowned single cask aging process.

The recipe for Riga Black Balsam was reportedly lost in 1939 but was carefully restored from fragments by former employees after World War II. Since then, the recipe has remained unchanged.
