Ricard

Ricard is an iconic French aniseed apéritif that has become a symbol of the Provençal lifestyle. The brand was founded in 1932 by Paul Ricard in Marseille with the aim of creating an authentic drink that would capture the aroma and atmosphere of southern France.

Ricard is made by macerating and distilling anise, fennel and aromatic herbs, complemented by liquorice and other secret ingredients. It is typical for its aromatic complexity and refreshing taste with a strong aniseed character. It is most often served with water and ice, during which its clear color turns into a characteristic milky hue - a ritual that is inherent to this drink.

Interestingly, Ricard has become the best-selling aniseed aperitif in the world and is still produced according to the original recipe. It is closely linked to French culture - from the seaside terraces of Marseille to evening gatherings of friends over a game of pétanque.
