Remedy is an original brand of rum whose story dates back to the time of American prohibition. According to legend, it was created as a “secret remedy” against alcohol bans – hence its name “Remedy.” This story gives the brand a playful, rebellious character and sets it apart from classic Caribbean rums.

The Remedy brand is now a European project under the Sierra Madre GmbH from Germany. The rum is produced as a blend of distillates from the Caribbean, primarily from the Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago, and Barbados. Each of these countries contributes its style to the final blend – from smooth and clean rums from column still distillation to fuller and more aromatic rums from pot stills. Aging takes place in tropical conditions in oak barrels, mostly ex-bourbon, with blending subsequently occurring in Europe, aiming to create a smooth, approachable, and sweeter profile.

Spiced rum Remedy is made from Caribbean distillates that age in oak barrels and are then blended into a harmonious whole. It brings flavors of caramel, vanilla, honey, and subtle spices, while maintaining a pleasant sweetness and smoothness. Because of this, it is popular not only for sipping but also as a base for tiki-style mixed drinks or classic rum cocktails.

The brand's portfolio consists of various versions targeting a wider audience. The most famous is Remedy Spiced Rum, flavored with a blend of spices and herbs, characterized by a sweet and smooth taste, ideal for cocktails. Remedy Elixir is a liqueur-like variant, very sweet, with pronounced notes of vanilla, caramel, and fruit. The modern and fresh face of the brand is represented by Remedy Pineapple, flavored with pineapple, which has become particularly popular in mixed drinks. Alongside these, there is also a classic blended version Remedy Rum, suitable for sipping or mixing.

Another interesting aspect of the brand is its retro design – the bottles resemble old pharmacy containers, directly referencing the legend of the “medicinal” rum during prohibition. Remedy thus combines history, stylish image, and accessible taste, securing its place in bars and home collections across Europe.
