Providence

Providence is a rum brand originating from Haiti, specifically from Port-au-Prince, where the Distillerie de Port-au-Prince distillery was founded in 2018. It is a collaboration between the Haitian Barbancourt-Linge family (descendants of the famous Barbancourt rum dynasty) and the European company La Maison & Velier. The aim of the project was to revive traditional rum-making practices and restore pot still rum production in Haiti after almost three decades.

Behind the project is Herbert Barbancourt-Linge Jr., a descendant of the Barbancourt founders, who became the master distiller and day-to-day manager of the Port-au-Prince operation. His goal is to revive the traditional distillation methods used by his ancestors while bringing the authenticity of agricultural raw materials and the local community into the rum-making process.

Providence is therefore a young but very ambitious brand that combines the history of Barbancourt, traditional pot still distillation methods and agricole raw materials typical of the Haitian terroir. With its philosophy and artisanal approach, it brings authentic Haitian rum with a deep cultural heritage to the global market.
