Whiskey Platte Valley is produced at McCormick Distilling Company, which is one of the oldest distilleries in the United States, founded in 1856 by Ben Holladay in Weston, Missouri. The distillery was chosen for its natural limestone springs, which provided ideal water for whiskey production.

Throughout its history, the distillery has undergone several changes in ownership and names. During Prohibition in the USA, it remained open by bottling previously distilled whiskey for medicinal purposes. In 1942, it acquired its current name, McCormick Distilling Company.

In 2016, the company revived bourbon production at its historic distillery, continuing its rich history of whiskey making.

McCormick Distilling Company is known for its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives. In 2007, it implemented several green measures, including recycling and using renewable energy sources. Their product 360 Vodka is considered the world's first "eco-friendly" vodka, packaged in recycled glass and paper.
