The origin of PLASENCIA cigars lies with Nestor Plasencia, who was born in the 1950s in Cuba to a family involved in tobacco cultivation. However, during the Cuban Revolution, his family was forced to emigrate to Central America. They found refuge in Nicaragua, but attempts to develop tobacco cultivation ended in failure, and due to the Sandinista revolution, which affected the entire tobacco industry in the country, Nestor Plasencia's family emigrated once again. Fortune smiled upon them in Honduras, and by 1986, this family business was producing 1 million cigars annually for various brands. By 1990, this production increased to 33 million.
Today, the PLASENCIA brand is in the hands of the 5th generation of the family, which has expanded production to the once unsuccessful Nicaragua, and currently, it is among the largest tobacco growers in the world. In addition to their own brand, Plasencia produces cigars for 33 other brands, including Rocky Patel, Alec Bradley, Total Flame, Gurkha, and others.
