Per Se

Per Se is the first original Portuguese aperitif that combines tradition, local ingredients, and a modern take on aperitif culture. It was created with the vision of making a drink that would capture the essence of the Portuguese lifestyle - social, relaxed, and full of flavor - while standing up to iconic global aperitifs like Italian and French brands.

Behind the brand is the renowned company Licor Beirão, a family business with over 90 years of tradition in distilling and producing liqueurs. The company decided to create something unique and purely Portuguese – a product that would respond to the growing interest in aperitifs while building on the local terroir and recipes. After two years of development, Per Se was launched in 2019 – a modern aperitif created with an emphasis on quality, craftsmanship and authenticity.

Per Se is the result of the maceration of 24 botanical ingredients, including Portuguese oranges, cardamom, Jamaican pepper, hops, and cinnamon. The recipe remains a secret, but it draws inspiration from the rich aromatic palette of Portugal – a country with a long history of discovering flavors and spices. The result is an aperitif with a natural orange color, a fresh citrus aroma, a delicately sweet and bitter taste, and an elegant finish.

The Per Se brand also embodies the philosophy of "less is more" – it is a simple, straightforward, and easy-to-understand aperitif that nevertheless carries complexity and elegance. It is mainly intended for mixing – classically with ice, a slice of lemon and soda, but also in creative cocktails. Thanks to its Mediterranean character and modern identity, it has quickly gained popularity not only in Portugal but also in foreign markets, where it is perceived as an original and stylish drink with soul.
