In 1861, Gavin and Alexander Lang decided to take a risky step and started a business in the production and sale of their own whiskies and rums.

The brothers improved their production and perfected their recipes so that the rums and whiskies appealed to the people frequenting the Scottish urban pubs. The brothers' company thrived, and there was a high demand for their products, which led them in 1869 to purchase Burnfoot Distillery, now known as Glengoyne Distillery.

Over the following years, there was a global demand. In 2003, the family brand Ian Macleod Distillery acquired the Langs brand. Today, we know the brand as Langs Rum and Langs Whisky.
