The classification of this cognac was born out of the phylloxera virus in the 1870s, which devastated vineyards and left distillers with a choice: to distill very young wine grown after the epidemic or to use old wine from the period before the outbreak of the epidemic known as "Grand eau-de-vie" from the time of Emperor Napoleon III - thus the Grand Empereur brandy was created.

The brandy is produced with great care, ensuring high product quality. It ages for a long time in oak barrels. This gives it a rich, complex flavor and smoothness.
