The classification of this cognac was born as a result of the phylloxera virus in the 1870s, which ravaged vineyards and gave distillers a choice: distil very young wine grown after the epidemic or use old wine from before the epidemic, called 'Grand eau-de-vie' from the time of Emperor Napoleon III - thus the Grand Empereur brandy was created.

The brandy is produced with great care, guaranteeing the high quality of the product. It is aged for a long time in oak barrels. This gives it a rich, complex flavour and finesse.
