Glen Grant

Glen Grant is one of five Scottish distilleries producing single malt whiskeys, the products of which are the best-selling products in the world. In 2006, Campari Group acquired the Glen Grant distillery for a royal sum of 115 million euros from Chivas Brothers, then owned by Pernod Ricard. Given this, Glen Grant is likely to expand significantly. The distillery currently includes six distilleries and its capacity is almost fully utilized, which means that it produces approximately 5.9 million liters of distillates per year. With the planned completion of the power plant near the distillery, as well as eight other distilleries, it was assumed that the capacity of this distillery could increase to 12 million liters by 2010.

Half of the production of the impressive Glen Grant Scotch whiskey is used as part of blended distillates, especially in Chivas blends. Most are moved for maturation outside the distillery - to Chivas central warehouses and to new Glen Grant storage facilities with a capacity of 60,000 barrels, which the distillery acquired through the purchase of eleven warehouses in Rothes. This whiskey distillery was founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grants, and twenty years later was the first distillery in Scotland to boast electric lighting.

In 1872, James Grant died and the distillery passed into the hands of his son, Major James Grant. He then built another distillery on the other side of the road and connected it with the original one through a pipeline, through which the newly produced whiskey was transported to it. Glen Grant No. distillery construction 2, as it was originally known, was completed in 1897, but closed five years later. It was reopened in 1965 under the name Caperdonich. In addition to the official series, it also produced separate products, especially Gordon and MacPhail, which spun a very wide range of vintages - their range covered 20 years of production of the Glen Grant distillery.
