At the beginning, there were two friends, who pooled together a few thousand euros as initial capital and in 2002 decided to launch the fritz-kola project in a student dormitory in Hamburg-Othmarschen.

Their mission: a new cola that would be better than anything offered by the big soda companies. Before they said it, they did it.

Mirco and Lorenz met as children in scouting. On their "Interrail tour" in 1999, they both decided to start their own business. They kept a notebook of ideas, jotting down various business models, from their own bar to a cleaning crew. It definitely had to be something concrete and not purely virtual. It should also allow for a life that promises fun and guarantees that you spend a lot of time in nice cafés. In the kitchen, over frozen pizza and kofole, the idea was born to develop a cola that would be better than the market leader. A cola with a high caffeine content, slightly less sweetness, and a hint of lemon.

To cover the capital needs of the project, contracts for building savings were canceled, and fritz-kola started operating with capital of approximately 7,000 EUR.

After extensive research on the cola recipe, they both tried to buy ingredients in Hamburg pharmacies. After some minor setbacks, with a little help, they managed to develop a recipe for cola. The logo and name fritz-kola are the result of very pragmatic considerations. There wasn't enough cash available for the development and legal review of the logo. Therefore, their own faces were used as the logo. In any case, they have rights to it. There were several suggestions for the name of the cola. They asked passersby in front of the shopping center. It should be a positive, catchy, and natural name. The beautiful North German name "fritz" wins.
