At the beginning, two friends put together a few thousand euros as start-up capital and in 2002 they decided to start a fritz-kola project in the Hamburg-Othmarschen student hostel.

Their mission: a new cola that would be better than anything offered by the big soda companies. Before they said it, they did it.

Mirco and Lorenz met as children in scouting. At the "Interrailtour" in 1999, they both decided to start their own business. They kept a notebook of ideas in which they wrote down different business models, from their own bar to a cleaning crew. It should definitely be something concrete and not purely virtual. It should also allow for a life that promises fun and guarantees you'll spend a lot of time in nice cafes. In the kitchen, over frozen pizza and coffles, the idea was born to develop a coffle that would be better than the market leader. A cola with a lot of caffeine, a little less sweetness and a hint of lemon.

To cover the capital needs of the project, the building savings contracts were cancelled and fritz-cola started to operate with a capital of around EUR 7 000.

After extensive research into the cola recipe, the two try to buy the ingredients in Hamburg pharmacies. After minor setbacks, they manage to develop a cola recipe with a little help. The logo and the name fritz-cola are the result of very pragmatic considerations. There is not enough cash available for logo development and legal review. Therefore, custom faces were used as the logo. In any case, they have the rights to it. There are several suggestions for the name of the round. They ask passers-by outside the shopping mall. It should be a positive, catchy and natural name. The beautiful North German name "fritz" wins.
