The Double Cross Vodka brand was created in 2007–2008 as an ambitious project by American investor and physician Malcolm M. Lloyd and his partner John Gellner, who were looking for a unique luxury product from Eastern Europe for the American market. After extensive travels and selecting a suitable partner, they chose the Gas Familia distillery in Stará Ľubovňa (Slovakia) – a place with ideal conditions and access to high-quality Tatra water. This is how vodka was created, which has since been defined as ultra-premium craft vodka.

The name Double Cross draws inspiration from the Slovak national emblem – the double cross – which reinforces the connection with the country's tradition and history. The brand identity is complemented by the striking minimalist design of the bottle: flat, angular, made of French crystal, decorated with laser-engraved poetry and the logo. The brand's motto is "betray the usual," which underscores its uniqueness and exclusivity.

Double Cross Vodka debuted in the United States in 2008 and quickly gained international recognition. It was the first vodka in history to win double gold at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition – for both taste and design. Other significant ratings soon followed – Wine Enthusiast awarded it 95 points and ranked it among the "Top 50 Spirits," while F. Paul Pacult and Anthony Dias Blue recommended it as exceptional. Political figures such as Eduard Heger and Juraj Droba also played a key role in the brand's development. As a result, Double Cross established itself in luxury bars in Manhattan, Las Vegas, Miami, and Beverly Hills, and is now one of the best-selling vodkas in the US.
