In the 1930s, Saint Lucia excelled in massive sugarcane cultivation and local rum production. However, as the sugarcane market expanded in Europe, it had a devastating impact on the island. The last two distilleries merged, settled in the picturesque Roseau valley, and established St. Lucia Distillers. One of them was L. Bernard. By the 1960s, the last sugarcane plantation on the island also came to an end. Producers began importing rich molasses from British Guiana, with a long-term commitment to using only their molasses.

Thanks to this history, Chairman L. Bernard decided to take on the revival of rum production on the island of Saint Lucia and created Chairman’s Reserve. Through special distillation of molasses and proper blending, he restored the prestige of the island's rum culture. Chairman’s Reserve became an outstanding "must-have" rum.
