As the business began to thrive, George involved his sons in the venture, and the company George Ballantine & Son Ltd. was formed. After selling the company in 1919, it was taken over by merchants Barclay & McKinlay, who elevated it to an international level.

Development and Masterful Blends

In 1937, the brand was acquired by Hiram Walker & Sons, which purchased the distilleries Glenburgie and Miltonduff – these still form the heart of its blends today. A modern distillery was also added in Dumbarton, allowing for expanded production. Thanks to a focus on consistent quality, Ballantine’s has become a symbol of reliable and balanced blended Scotch whisky.
