Auchentoshan Three Wood
Pronunciation: {Ochen-tošn}Auchentoshan Three Wood whisky has undergone a unique maturation process. It was first matured in ex-bourbon casks, then in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and finally in very sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This three-stage cask finish gives the drink depth, rich colour and a layered character.
The aroma blends notes of blackcurrants, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisins with a hint of caramel. The taste is sweet and syrupy, complemented by hazelnuts, cinnamon, lemon notes and caramelised butter. The finish is long, fruity and with a long oak sweet touch.
Auchentoshan Three Wood is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, to reveal its complexity and layers of flavour. If you want to slightly adjust the intensity, you can add just a few drops of water.
It goes well with chocolate desserts, sherry, black fruit or as a quality aperitif. It also works well as a base for sophisticated cocktails.
