Whisky Auchentoshan Three Wood has undergone a unique maturation process. First, it aged in ex-bourbon casks, then in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and finally in very sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This triple cask finish gives the drink depth, a rich color, and a layered character.
The aroma intertwines notes of blackcurrants, brown sugar, orange, plum, and raisins with a hint of caramel. The taste is sweet and syrupy, complemented by hazelnuts, cinnamon, lemon notes, and caramel butter. The finish remains long, fruity, and with a lingering sweet oak touch.
You can best enjoy Auchentoshan Three Wood neat, at room temperature, to reveal its complexity and layers of flavor. If you want to slightly adjust the intensity, you can add just a few drops of water.
It pairs wonderfully with chocolate desserts, sherry, black fruits, or as a quality aperitif. It also works interestingly as a base in sophisticated cocktails.
