The brand Akashi is associated with the White Oak distillery, located in the city of Akashi in Hyogo Prefecture. The distillery was built in 1888 originally for the production of sake and shochu, but in 1919 it obtained a license to distill whisky, becoming one of the pioneers of Japanese whisky.

From Domestic Market to Modern Production

In the first decades, production focused mainly on blended whiskies intended for the domestic market, and the brand was built gradually, without an effort for mass volumes. The distillery is owned by Eigashima Shuzo. Among the most well-known bottles in the brand's portfolio is the Akashi Blended, a flagship with an approachable, balanced character. Another good choice is Akashi Meisei, which appeals with its clean, elegant profile and subtly layered flavor.
